ECR- Heineken Cup and European Challenge Cup
European Club Rugby kicks off in October, culminating in the prestigious Heineken Cup final in May. Administered by the ERC (European Rugby Cup Committee) this multi-nation tournament has become one of rugby’s greatest competitions. Games are played in rounds leading to a knock-out stage with two final groups competing for the Heineken Cup and the European Challenge Cup. Magners League
This Celtic competition comprising two teams from Scotland, four teams from Wales and four teams from Ireland is used as the sole determinant for European qualification. The competition is played over 18 weekends from September to May, and culminates in the winners being crowned Magners League Champions. France Top 14
The Top 14 is contested by fourteen professional rugby union clubs throughout France with the season running from August through to June. Italy Super 10
The Super 10 is the highest tier of the national rugby union competition in Italy running from September to May. After a home-and-away season, the top four teams play a knock-out competition to decide the championship and the bottom team is relegated. The leading Super 10 teams qualify to play against teams from the other leading rugby union nations in Europe in the Heineken Cup and the European Challenge Cup.
