Craig Innes
Craig Innes was one of the few professionals to make the successful switch between rugby codes, initially playing Union for Auckland as an 18 year old prior to becoming an All Black just two years later in 1989. He then switched to professional rugby league, initially signing with Leeds in the UK Super League, before transferring to the Australian NRL where he joined forces with the top Sydney club, Manly. After picking up a NRL Premiership in 1996, he relocated back to Auckland to complete his professional career playing Rugby Union for the Auckland Blues in the Super 12 competition.
During his time as a professional footballer, Craig identified the need for young athletes to surround themselves with good people and sound advice – these being the two key elements that drove him to succeed in his newly chosen vocation as a sports management professional. He has a wealth of local industry knowledge as well as vast experience of the international rugby market, which is his key role as Director of International Operations.
Craig has a reputation for honesty, integrity and commitment to players’ welfare in conjunction with securing their commercial success. He travels to Japan regularly to maintain contact with the close-knit network of corporate teams and their management, and also visits France, Ireland and the United Kingdom in order to build and foster key relationships with our international alliances and club affiliates.
